A flask-shaped siliceous sponge.The third picture shows the fossil coaxial tubes of the exhalation water system (very well preserved), which emerge in the ostia on the upper side of the sponge. Well-preserved sponge.Raphidonema are calcareous sponges that were widespread in the Cretaceous from England to India. Their flat shell shape encrusted hard surfaces quite quickly, where they used small ciliated cells to channel streams of water into their pores for filtration.
