Advent Calendar Minerals 2024
Advent Calendar Minerals 2024
Variety: with minerals 2024
Dear friends of the Advent calendar, once again this year we are presenting you with insights into the fascinating world of stones, minerals and crystals. Each specimen is accompanied by a small text in the booklet: Every day you can read about the properties, origins, current use or characteristics of the respective mineral. A note with the exact name and locality is also included. Please note: only available in German language. This calendar does not contain tumbled stones, but the natural varieties of rocks! Our Advent calendar comes in a cardboard box (21 x 29 cm) containing 18 small boxes (3 x 4.5 cm) and 6 larger boxes (approx. 4.5 x 6 cm) for Sundays, St. Nicholas Day and Christmas. You can reuse the boxes for your own collection, which makes the calendar more sustainable.Everything is made in Bonn, Germany.A wonderful gift for friends, family or yourself. It's a must-have and a bargain for anyone even remotely interested in minerals. The cover picture is thanks to S. Bernsteiner, who took part in our social media contest in the summer and won.For our regular Advent calendar customers:It's not easy to stock a calendar with innovative content every year at a reasonable price, which is why we're repeating a few items this year for those who already know this calendar from previous years. This year there are six recurrences from 2021, three from 2020, one from 2019 and four from 2017.You are welcome to find out which ones and we can replace parts if you wish, please write to us.

Children's book in German: Mammut, Urmensch, Höhlenbär
Life in the Stone Age - only available in German! This large-format and richly illustrated volume takes us on a fascinating journey of discovery into the world of mammoths and early humans. Humans emerged more than three million years ago. How exactly did our ancestors live? What animals did they hunt? Or how did they make fire? Which works of art and mysteries have they passed on to us?The detailed illustrations and atmospheric scenes in this book take us back to the time of Homo habilis and Neanderthals and bring the animals and people of the Stone Age back to life. We meet mysterious prehistoric animals such as the woolly rhinoceros and the cave bear and learn when our modern-day pets such as dogs and cats were domesticated and when humans themselves became sedentary. Iron meteorite (~ 1 cm)
Iron meteorite (~ 1 cm)
Beautiful, small iron-nickel meteorite.Comes in a collector's box. Most meteorites originate from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The average distance from there is approx. 190 million kilometers. The weight of this material is immense: even a massive 100-ton sphere of this material would only have a diameter of approx. 2.9 meters! It has been estimated that this nearly unaltered matter is around 4.5 billion years old. There is no rock of comparable age on Earth.According to information provided by natives, the Spanish conquistadors discovered scattered fragments of an iron meteorite on a vast plain in Argentina in 1576. As they were more interested in gold or silver, the site was initially forgotten. It was only much later that researchers discovered that this iron had a meteoritic origin. The meteorite was named “Campo del Cielo” (“Field of the Sky”) after its locality. It is now known that the impact of a large iron meteorite occurred here around 5,000 years ago.Locality: ArgentinaSize: approx. 1 cmColors in product photos may differ from those of the original specimen for technical reasons. Our pictures are for reference only, you will receive a specimen of equivalent quality with your purchase.

Knightia is the most common fossil in the deposit and is synonymous with it. Knightia was a freshwater swarm fish. It is always found in large numbers in fossil form. Therefore, it is assumed that they often fell victim to events such as algal blooms.Age: Tertiary, Middle Eocene, Green River Shales (approx. 45 million years old);Locality: Warfield Springs, Wyoming, USASize of fish: approx. 4-5 cm, on 7-8 cm matrixFor technical reasons, the colors in product photos may differ slightly from those of the original specimen.
