Format: DIN A4For accompanying booklet see product number B92202Only available in German!Life's development on our planet and geological changes over the course of time are the subject of the poster “Living Planet”. It was created in 1998 with the aim of providing a holistic overview, or rather impression, of the history of Earth. It is still one of Planet Poster Editions' most successful posters! The Earth was formed around 4600 mio. years ago and has been home to living organisms for 3800 mio. years. Our poster focuses primarily on the last 540 mio. years, during which the biodiversity of cellular organisms has evolved. To contribute to a more global understanding of our planet, we have tried to avoid focusing on the last few million years and the appearance of humans, as the majority of geological publications do. The landscape for the Quaternary period, which is only 2 mio. years old, is relatively small in our poster, with a few insects, fish and grasses as the dominant organisms. Humans do not appear: the period in which we have colonized this planet is only a tiny fraction of that in which other organisms have lived throughout history. We have dedicated a separate poster (product number: B92221) to humans. Many of the articles in popular science on Mesozoic organisms (from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous) give a distorted picture of Earth's history. Even serious authors try to convince us that 95% of the history of life took place in a region that corresponds to present-day North America. In our poster, we have chosen a Triassic image of life from present-day Africa and South America, and one from present-day Asia for the Cretaceous period.Colors in product photos may differ from those of the original specimen for technical reasons. Our pictures are for reference only, you will receive a piece of equivalent quality with your purchase.

Format: DIN A1 (59.4 × 84.1 cm)Only available in German!Although they became extinct around 65 million years ago, dinosaurs are among the most impressive animals that have ever inhabited the Earth. This poster introduces different dinosaurs, shows their relationships, when they lived and how the giants of prehistoric times are classified today in the family system of land vertebrates. Nine main groups are presented individually using illustrative pictures of selected species in their natural environment. Their distribution is shown by means of world maps indicating the location of the continents during their lifetime. The best-known generic names are listed according to subgroups. We take great care to reflect the current state of scientific knowledge. The role of birds is particularly interesting. Although it was recognized as early as 1861 with the well-known “primeval bird” Archaeopteryx that birds are indeed closely related to reptiles, it took until the 1990s before it became clear that they are a surviving lineage of dinosaurs. Today we know the path from dinosaur to bird was a journey of many small steps. With each discovery, it becomes increasingly difficult to make the almost arbitrary decision as to what is a bird and what is a dinosaur. Because dinosaurs and birds cannot be separated evolutionarily, they also belong on a modern dinosaur poster.

What other types of preservation are there? In the fossil world, the interplay of deposition and fossilization gives rise to a plethora of varieties in which a living organism can remain preserved in the course of Earth's history. This richly illustrated poster provides a structured overview of possible forms of preservation with examples illustrated by photographs. The poster also shows an illustration with references to a possible habitat or possible deposition areas for the fossils shown.Format: DIN A1 (59 x 84 cm), 28 photos and several illustrations.Designed by us in collaboration with Pfeil Verlag.Colors in product photos may differ from those of the the original specimen for technical reasons. Our pictures are for reference only, you will receive an item of equivalent quality with your purchase.

Format: DIN A1 (59.4 × 84.1 cm)Superb print quality on environmentally friendly 200g paperlightfastmatt varnish-coatedOnly available in German! In 1869, Dmitri Mendeleev and Lothar Meyer developed the periodic table we know today. The chemical elements are arranged in increasing order according to their atomic number and depending on their chemical properties in periods and groups. This poster shows the most important data of each element: the relative atomic mass, melting point, covalency radius, ionization energy, electronegativity according to Pauling, important oxidation numbers or the electron configuration. As such, it is an important tool for school and university. Key trends in the periodic table are illustrated using overview diagrams.A large number of available image files of pure elements were reviewed and a representative image for each element was included. In the case of colorless gases, we have opted for the representation of the respective fluorescent tube light. Format: DIN A1 ( 59.4 × 84.1 cm)Only available in German! The evolutionary history of humans is a fascinating journey spanning millions of years and leading up to modern Homo sapiens. Several million years ago, the lineage that led to humans diverged from that of chimpanzees and gorillas, our closest living relatives. These early hominids were not yet modern humans, but they shared many important characteristics.Upright walking humans have been around for about four or five million years. In the beginning, our faces hardly differed from those of chimpanzees. Over time, evolution produced a whole range of different human species, some of which lived at the same time and mostly on the African continent. In a unique concept, this poster shows what our ancestors looked like, where they lived, what tools they used and how they diversified in fascinating, detailed images based on the latest research.Colors in product photos may differ from those of the original item for technical reasons. Our pictures are for reference only, when purchasing you will receive a piece of equivalent quality.
