Fossil crustacean of the species Carpopenaeus callirostris—an original and, at the same time,
attractively priced collector’s item.
Carpopenaeus is among the most commonly found fossils from the Cretaceous limestone s
labs of Lebanon. This prehistoric shrimp is particularly recognizable by its long, striking
supraorbital spine, both of which are well-preserved here.
Age: Cretaceous, Sannine Formation; (approx. 95 to 100 million years old)
Locality: Hjoula, Byblos District, Lebanon
Shrimp size: 1.5 x 3 cm; Plate size: approx. 8 x 12 x 1 cm
