Product information "Nautiloid: Cyrtoceras, Devonian, GER"

Beautiful, typical cyrtoconic (curved) cephalopod, nautiloid: Cyrtoceras depressum.
Phragmocone (chambered part) with recognizable septa and liminal chonium!
Cut into two halves and slightly polished. 

Cyrtoceras lived in shallow marine areas near reef structures.
The animals preferred calcareous environments, which favoured their fossilization.

Age: Devonian
Locality: Rinnen near Sötenich, Eifel, NRW, Germany
Size: approx. 15 x 9,5 x 4,5 cm
