ABSOLUTELY RARE!
Kimberella was an extinct genus of animals from the Ediacaran fauna that lived during the Ediacaran Period, approximately 558 to 555 million years ago. To date, only the species K. quadrata is known. The first fossils were discovered in 1959 in the Ediacara Hills; better-preserved specimens were unearthed in 1997 near the White Sea and were dated to 558–555 million years ago.
Initially, Kimberella was classified as a jellyfish. Later finds exhibiting bilateral symmetry and possible traces of a radula led to the hypothesis that it might have been an early representative of the mollusks. However, this classification is controversial. The only certainty is that Kimberella belonged to the Bilateria (bilaterally symmetrical animals).

The Ediacara Hills give their name to the Ediacaran, a geological period of the late Precambrian that spanned approximately 635 to 542 million years ago. They contain one of the oldest known fossil deposits of multicellular organisms with preserved soft tissues.
