Hypersthene is a more common, dark gemstone with earthy brown, gray or green tones. In combination with its holographic shimmer,
it has a velvety appearance, which has earned it the nickname "velvet labradorite".
Because the name hypersthene is not generally recognized, it is also referred to as enstatite or ferrosilite.
