Product information "Plant: Brachyphyllum cf. gracile (Conifer)"
Brachyphyllum is the term for conifer leaves and twigs associated with various Araucaria that got fossilized.
The Solnhofen Formation was deposited in a series of lagoons on the southern rims of an ocean covering Jurassic Germany. They evaporated cyclically, which turned them hypersaline, anoxic and deadly even to the decomposers, resulting in well-preserved fossils. This naturally affected all plants that where washed into those lagoons.
