Beautiful, silicified coral of the species Microphyllia.
Scleractinia like this one first appeared in the Triassic, but it was their symbiosis with algae towards the Jurassic that allowed corals to become reef-builders again. Unlike older taxa such as tabulates and rugose, their skeleton was made of aragonite, not calcite.
