Product information "Trilobite: Paladin sp. (Proetidae, Carboniferous)"

Creme-colored trilobite on matrix. Nearly complete, only missing genal spines.(Rare)

Age: Upper Carboniferous
Locality: Zhirnovsk, Volgograd, Russland
Size: Trilobite: 28 mm  (about 1 in); Rock: 7 x 6,5 cm (2.8 x 2.6 in)

During the extinction events of the Devonian the population size and diversity of trilobites took a massive hit, and thus became much rarer. Only the proetids, to which Paladin belongs, survived, and they only lasted until the end-Permian. They fed on detritus on the sea bed. The name comes from the large head shields of this group.
