Product information "Temperoceras / Orthoceras (ca. 5 - 6 cm) (Michelinoceras)"
Michelinoceras was an orthocone Nautiloid, which means it was a cephalopod with a straight chambered shell.
Age: Devonian
Region of discovery: Morocco
Size: ca. 6 cm
This allowed it to float by regulating its density via gas exchange.
The genus is one of the earliest and longest lasting lines of cephalopods (Ordovician to Triassic) and one of the first whose radula was found.
Typical orthocone shell! The chambering is clearly visible, as is the sipho!
