Specimens of Didymograptus murchisoni (BECK) on shale.Age: OrdovicianRegion of discovery: Aberreidi Bay, Central Wales Coast, Great Britain.Size: ca. 7 cm.Graptolites were colony-forming filterers who formed organic exoskeletons. These are commonly found in Ordovician and Silurian deposits, where they are used for biostratigraphy. Early forms had many branches and were sessile, while later forms such as this one reduced their complexity and became free-floating.The picture is a sample. You will get a similar specimen.
