The Westafrican Sanddollar is still alive today and has adapted to the harsh conditions at the wave base for millions of years. Its flag form is hydrodynamic and its "fingers" and spines allow it to dissipate laminare flows that would generate lift. That way they can safely search for food particles in rough waters.
