Geologic Compass, Freiberg version, type 69, engraved

Product information "Geologic Compass, Freiberg version, type 69, engraved"

Traditional methods of orientation in the field are still used today, even in the age of
satellite-based systems,  with topographic maps, compasses, and altimeters.

Freiberger geologist compasses are primarily used to determine the spatial position of
rock structures, but are also used for geological mapping.
Thanks to its handy format and declination plate, this compass ensures convenient
handling as both a single-circle and dual-circle compass. It is suitable for general geological
field work as well as for special structure-based, depositional tectonic, and
geo-engineering jobs.

It features a pendulum clinometer, and declination can be adjusted using a gear drive.
The compass needle is equipped with a sliding copper weight to eliminate inclination.

The reference circle is easily adjustable, so declination can be set individually.
A clinometer for high-precision inclination measurements is located in the
compass housing.
A circular level and a tubular level attached to the side allow the instrument to be
leveled even at hard-to-reach measuring points. In addition to measuring angles
of inclination, the inclination plate also serves to protect the cover glass.

Product features:

  • mirror
  • sapphire bearing
  • engraved 360-degree scale
  • ground magnetic needle, standing upright
  • lockable magnetic system
  • easy adjustment of reference circles
  • lockable clinometer for more accurate inclination measurements
  • circular level for horizontal alignment
  • tubular level on the side for measurements in hard-to-reach places
  • declination and inclination can be easily set to the locally applicable values
  • declination plate for cover glass protection and angle of inclination measurement
  • leather protective case
  • compass reference circle: counterclockwise numbering every 10° (10 gon);
    diameter 45 mm; scale value 2° (2 gon)
  • clinometer: measuring range 90° (+100 gon); scale value 2° (2 gon);
    estimation 0.5° (0.5 gon)
