A beautiful plant arrangement featuring Discopteris goldenbergi and Pecopteris pluckeneti!Discopteris refers to a fossil, fern-like group of plants known primarily from Carboniferous-era deposits. The Carboniferous Period lasted from approximately 359 to 299 million years ago and was characterized by extensive, warm, humid swamp and forest landscapes. In these ecosystems, numerous ferns and other spore-bearing plants formed a significant part of the vegetation.Discopteris is characterized by its large, multi-segmented, and pinnate leaf structures. The fossil leaf impressions indicate a complex frond structure, similar to that observed in various modern ferns. Discopteris presumably reproduced via spores and was therefore not dependent on seeds for reproduction.Pecopteris is a plant genus that encompasses leaf fossils (morphotaxon). They are widespread and common worldwide and occur during the Carboniferous and Permian periods.Pecopteris has pinnate leaves. The leaflets are usually small and separate from one another. Their margins often run parallel or nearly parallel. A single vascular bundle enters each leaflet, extending almost to its tip. The tip of the leaflet is rounded.
