Complete juvenile prehistoric horse skeleton on slab.

A cast of a prehistoric horse from the famous Messel Pit in Hesse.
With clearly recognizable four-toed forelegs and three-toed hind legs, this fox-sized animal is considered the ancestor of today's horses. It is the root of their evolution.

Age: Middle Eocene; approx. 48 million years old
Locality: Messel Pit near Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany
Size of slab: 30 x 23 cm

Casts are made in-house from casting wood and hand-colored, for this reason the delivered piece may differ slightly in color from the images shown here.
