In rough shape, but from a rare ichthyosaur site.
Age: Lower Jurassic, Toarcian.
Locality: Altdorf near Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany.
Size: 2,5 x 1 cm
The Altdorf site near Nuremberg is particularly well known among collectors for its “Laibsteinen.” However, bones from various clades of sauropterygia, such as ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs, have also been found there. These are quite rare, however.
