Geologic Compass, Freiberg version 69, without mirror
Even in the age of satellite-based systems, orientation in the terrain is often done the traditional way with topographic map, compass and altimeter. Freiberg geological compasses are primarily used to determine the spatial position of rock structures, but also for geological mapping.
This geological compass ensures convenient handling as a single or dual-circle compass due to its handy format and drop measuring plate. It is as suitable for general geological field work as for special geo-structural, reservoir tectonic or geo-engineering rock mechanical work.
It has a pendulum clinometer, and the declination can be adjusted by means of a gear drive. Its needle is equipped with a sliding copper weight to eliminate inclination. The graduated circle is adjustable, so the declination value can be set. A clinometer for inclination measurements of high accuracy is located in the compass housing. The circular as well as the laterally mounted tubular bubble allow the instrument to be levelled even at hard to reach measuring points. In addition to measuring drop angles, the drop measuring plate also protects the cover glass.
