The molluscan Scaphopods spends their entire lives buried in the sediment, where they catch tiny prey between the grains with thin tentacles. Only the far end of their shell sticks out of the ground which allos them to breathe. This way of life unfortunately means that often times scaphopods do not get accumulated as much as other shelled animals suchas bivavles and brachiopods.
